Whatnot Trading Card Fees FAQ
How much does Whatnot take from a sale?
Whatnot charges card sellers an 8% commission on the final sale price plus a payment processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 on the total order value. On a typical $50 sale that works out to roughly 12%, but small sales lose a larger share because the $0.30 flat fee applies to every checkout.
What are Whatnot's seller fees in 2026?
As of 2026, sellers in TCG, sports singles, comics, and toys pay 8% commission on the final sale price, with 0% on the portion above $1,500 per item as a limited-time promotion. All sellers also pay a 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing fee on the total order value, which includes buyer-paid shipping and sales tax. Premier Shops pay a reduced 7.2% commission.
What is Whatnot's Premier Shop commission rate?
Premier Shops receive a relative 10% commission discount, which lowers the standard 8% rate to 7.2%. Status is granted monthly to sellers with at least $50,000 in sales, 250 orders, and 10 shows over the previous 90 days who also meet shipping and fulfillment standards. The payment processing fee is unchanged at 2.9% + $0.30.
Does Whatnot charge fees on shipping and sales tax?
Partially. The 8% commission applies to the item's final sale price only, excluding shipping and tax. The 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee applies to the full order total including buyer-paid shipping and sales tax, so higher shipping or tax raises your processing fee.
Why do many small sales cost more in fees than one big sale?
Whatnot charges fees per transaction, not per shipment. Every checkout pays its own $0.30 flat fee even when purchases bundle into a single box. Fifty $2 sales pay $15.00 in flat fees alone, while one $100 sale pays $0.30. The Stream Mode tab shows this effect across a full show.
Does Whatnot charge tax on its seller fees?
In a small number of US states, yes. Whatnot collects sales tax on its commission in DC, Hawaii, New Mexico, and West Virginia, and on its processing fee in Connecticut, Hawaii, New Mexico, Ohio, South Dakota, Texas, and West Virginia. This calculator does not include tax on fees.
