UPDATED JULY 2026TCGplayer vs eBay: Common Questions
Is it cheaper to sell cards on TCGplayer or eBay?
It depends on the card. TCGplayer's 10.75% commission looks cheaper than eBay's 13.25% Final Value Fee, but TCGplayer orders of $5.00 or more ship free to the buyer, so you lose the shipping revenue while still paying postage. On cards in the $5–$20 range that often narrows or flips the gap. The same math applies to sports cards, Pokemon, Magic, and every other card type. Run the numbers above to see the answer for your card.
Why does TCGplayer pay less than eBay on some cards even with lower fees?
Orders with an item total of $5.00 or more ship free to TCGplayer buyers. The seller receives no shipping revenue but still pays real postage on every order. On eBay you can charge the buyer for shipping, and that difference is often larger than the gap between the two commission rates.
Do TCGplayer and eBay both charge fees on sales tax?
Yes. TCGplayer's 2.5% + $0.30 transaction fee applies to the order total including sales tax, and eBay's Final Value Fee applies to item price plus shipping plus the sales tax collected from the buyer. Both calculators on this site model that correctly.
